Scope
This policy explains how the Mythmark iOS app (the “App”) and this privacy-policy webpage handle information. Mythmark does not operate a cloud account or synchronization service for your reading data.
Information stored on your device
The App stores the information needed to provide its features locally on your device, including:
- your Library and Read list;
- scorecards, notes, snippets, reading sessions, daily reading logs, page counts, DNF history, and reread history;
- Goodreads reading history that you choose to import;
- preferences and recent searches; and
- downloaded book metadata and cover-image caches.
Mythmark does not sell this information or use it to track you. The developer does not receive it through a Mythmark server.
Home Screen widget
If you use Mythmark’s Home Screen widget, the App places a limited snapshot—such as the current book’s title, author and page, whether reading is active, books read, and your book goal—in Mythmark’s private iOS App Group container. This information remains on your device and is shared only between the App and its own widget.
Open Library and Internet Archive
Mythmark uses Open Library, an Internet Archive project, to provide book search, metadata, recommendations, edition information, and cover images. When you search, scan an ISBN, open a book, or load recommendations, the App sends Open Library the search terms, ISBNs, or Open Library work and edition identifiers necessary to fulfill that request. Some recommendation requests may use book identifiers derived from your Library.
Like other internet services, Open Library and Internet Archive receive standard technical request information, such as your IP address and the App’s user-agent identification. Their handling of information is governed by the Internet Archive Terms and Privacy Policy.
Camera and on-device text recognition
With your permission, Mythmark uses the camera to recognize ISBN barcodes and book pages you choose to scan for Snippets. Page images and text recognition are processed on your device. Source page images are used temporarily for review and recognition and are not saved to your Library or uploaded by Mythmark. The selected snippet text is stored locally when you choose to save it.
Imports, exports, and sharing
Goodreads CSV files are selected and parsed on your device; Mythmark does not upload them. Book identifiers from imported records may later be sent to Open Library to retrieve metadata and covers.
Backup files and reading-recap images are created locally. They leave the App only when you initiate an export or use the iOS share sheet. After you choose a destination, that destination’s privacy policy applies. Files that you export remain under your control and are not deleted when you delete data inside Mythmark.
Support communications
If you contact hello@mythmark.app, the information you provide—such as your email address, message, and any attachments—is used only to respond, troubleshoot, maintain appropriate business records, and protect the App from abuse. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes or as required by law.
This webpage and Cloudflare
This static page is hosted by Cloudflare. It contains no advertising or analytics scripts and does not intentionally set cookies. Cloudflare may process standard request and security information, including IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect the page. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Retention and your controls
App data remains on your device until you edit or delete it, use Clear Downloaded Book Data or Delete All Data in Settings, or iOS removes it. Cache files may also be removed by iOS. You can revoke camera access in iOS Settings. To ensure App and widget data is removed before uninstalling, use Delete All Data first.
Children’s privacy
Mythmark is not directed to children under 13, does not provide user accounts, and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through a Mythmark service.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information. Because Mythmark’s reading data is kept on your device, you can access, change, export, or delete it directly in the App. For questions about support correspondence or this policy, contact us using the address below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Mythmark’s features or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when a revised policy is posted.
